Manager, Transport & Microwave Engineering  

Atlantic-Tele Network(ATN)/Commnet Wireless          2014-Present

 

Responsibilities: Manage a team of Transport Engineers, Mircowave Engineers, Telco Analysts (ASR) & Controller. Duties were to support new and existing business opportunities both Cellular and Enterprise. This included but not limited to all Ethernet backhaul, Network planning, Network standards (QOS, RFC), Equipment ordering, inventory, PCN filings, Licensed and Unlicensed Microwave, PSTN Trunking, Capital Expenditures and Monthly Invoices for all Cell site.          

 

·       Oversaw day to day team activities including performance review, staffing, progress reporting, Network health and usage status, Vendor Management and more. 

·       Creating & managing  RFQ/RFP for Ethernet backhaul solutions to support Network Growth

·       Managed network quarterly budget preparation.

·       All invoicing approvals for CAPEX and OPEX expenses.

Network Design Engineer supporting Comcast VoIP Network Architecture that included design between Media Gateway, DCS, SONET & DWDM platforms. Responsible for the engineering, installation and design, project timelines, budgets and material selection for approximately one quarter of the network which consisted of 16,000 route miles of fiber covering 15 states and 39 markets. Responsibilities included project management, cost allocation, equipment selection, network design & engineering from collocation to electrical interfaces (T-1, DS3), dark fiber & conduit, DWDM wavelength services (2.5G/10G) as well as optical transport (GigE, OC-3/12/48/192).

 

§    Creation of Engineering Design Packages “EDP” for the installation of network equipment; this included installation steps and procedures, card location, cable running lists, floor plans, bay lay-out drawings, light levels, test & turn-up information for both network DWDM 10G’s and customer interfaces down to T1’s

§    Dark Fiber Designs in Auto-Cad for the installation of laterals, HH/Splice enclosure placement, splice drawings and fiber testing documentation including OTDR

§    Collocation Design encompassed overhead infrastructure (ladder racking, fiber raceway), bay placement, BDFB installation, cabling, lacing & tapping, site alarm installation as well as alarm augments for customer interface

Responsibilities during Network build included Request for Proposal “RFP’s” reviews from vendor, equipment selection and acquisition. This included creating bill of materials as well as purchase order creation. Deployment of equipment included the Engineering Design Packages “EDP” for approximately 80-100 long haul sites as well as 88 Metro POP’s.

 

§    Managed construction of a 16,000-mile DWDM Long Haul Nationwide Network consisting of 44 POP’s and 229 ILA/REGEN sites in less than 8 months

§     Designed installation specifications for all Metro DWDM deployment for 88 POP sites within 16 Metro Rings

§    Managed numerous installation companies, employees, and multiple projects simultaneously for the Long Haul and

Metro Network builds

§     Provided engineering and migration services on 11 RFP responses with a contract value of $12M

§     Completed a migration of 44 Network Elements and customers to a new platform in less than 3 months

§    Managed the decommissioning of 5 metro rings (21 total POPs). Relocated 9 of our most heavily populated POPs,

thus mitigating a $15M dollar commitment
